Claire Denis is among the best independent French filmmakers for me and I was thrilled to get this interview. She is very passionate, with the finest knowledge of African cultures. I was very impressed.

The interview is for a forthcoming publication on "Culture(s) Noire(s) en France?" in Africultures that collects articles and interviews from various artists and scholars about the significance of "Black cultures" in France.
